
Vasyl Stefanyk Carpathian National University has entered one of the most prestigious international rankings for the first time in history – QS World University Rankings: Europe 2026, which is a landmark event for the entire university community. This achievement testifies to the high level of academic and scientific capacity of the university, its gradual integration into the European Higher Education Area, and its growing international recognition.
QS World University Rankings: Europe 2026 evaluates universities according to a set of indicators reflecting their academic reputation, quality of scientific research, graduate employment, learning conditions, level of internationalization and contribution to sustainable development. The current edition of the ranking presents 958 universities in Europe, of which 58 are higher education institutions of Ukraine, which provides a representative comparison of the positions of KNUVS in the national and European academic environment.
According to the results of the ranking, Vasyl Stefanyk Carpathian National University ranked 701–900 among universities in Europe and 99th among universities in Eastern Europe, thus entering the TOP-100 higher education institutions in the region. Among the university’s strongest points are the Academic Reputation and Employer Reputation indicators (position 301+), which indicates the growing trust in the university from the academic community and employers.
The results of KNUVS according to other indicators are also significant, in particular:
Sustainability – 24.6 points,
Employment Outcomes – 15.1 points,
Faculty–Student Ratio – 12.8 points,
Outbound Exchange Students – 10.3 points.
It is especially important that, according to the KNUVS ranking, it took first place among Ukrainian higher education institutions in terms of Citations per Paper and International Research Network, which confirms the high quality of the university’s scientific publications and its active participation in international research networks and consortia.
The QS World University Rankings methodology is based on a combination of university statistics, Scopus bibliometrics, and global surveys of academics and employers. Over 1.5 million academic nominations and over 520,000 employer ratings were used to compile the rankings, underscoring the global nature of the assessment and the high level of trust in the results.
The active participation of Vasyl Stefanyk Carpathian National University in international educational and research projects, academic exchanges and professional networks contributes to strengthening its reputation among classical universities. The obtained indicators create the basis for further improving the university’s positions in European rankings by strengthening publication activity, expanding international scientific cooperation and increasing academic mobility of students and teachers.
