KNUVS is in the TOP-6 domestic institutions in the field of higher education and science!

According to updated official data published on the Scimago Institutions Rankings website, in 2026 Carpathian University rose three positions and today ranks 6th in the authoritative international Scimago ranking among 75 higher education institutions and research institutions in Ukraine.

Recall that SCImago Institutions Rankings is a global ranking of scientific institutions, published since 2009 by the SCImago group, a research organization (Spain), which includes members of the Higher Council for Scientific Research (CSIC) from the University of Granada, Carlos III University of Madrid, University of Alcalá, University of Extremadura and other major educational institutions in Spain.

The SCImago Institutions Rankings are based on a classification of academic and research institutions, ranked according to a complex indicator that combines three different sets of indicators based on research performance, innovation and impact on society. The research ranking reflects the volume, impact and quality of an institution’s scientific output. The innovation ranking is calculated based on the number of patent applications filed by an institution, as well as the number of citations of its scientific publications in patents. Finally, the social ranking is based on the number of pages on the institution’s website, as well as the number of backlinks and mentions in social networks.

SCImago Institutions Rankings is a prestigious scientometric ranking, the peculiarity of which is the use of the Scopus database. SCIMago is a ranking of scientific organizations, not only HEIs.

Inclusion criteria:

  • During the last year of the selected period, institutions published at least 100 papers included in the SCOPUS database.
  • Cited documents (article, chapter, conference paper, review, and abstract) must account for at least 75% of the total number of documents published by the institution.

SCImago Institutions Rankings evaluates scientific organizations according to 21 indicators and analyzes HEIs and research institutions according to a composite indicator that combines three different sets of indicators based on research activity, innovation activities and impact on society, which is measured through web visibility.

The rating is divided into separate sections, including governance, healthcare, higher education, and others.

For each of them, assessments are conducted in areas such as research results, level of international cooperation, normalized impact, and number of publications.
